What is Barbershop Harmony?

Barbershop Harmony Society

The Caveman Chorus

Barbershop Harmony Society

The Mammoth Cave Chapter (Caveman Chorus) was chartered in 1972 as a non-profit organization in the Cardinal District  (Kentucky and Indiana) of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, Inc. (SPEBSQSA, or the Barbershop Harmony Society).  As the name with all those initials suggests, the Society's purpose is to perpetuate and spread this unique American musical art form throughout the world.

The Society, with headquarters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, is an ever-growing fraternity of barbershop-style singers, leading the cause of encouraging vocal music in our schools and communities.  There are more than 30,000 members in the 800 + chapters in North America.
